Utterly Butterly girl now celebrating her 50th Birthday

Utterly butterly delicious! This line is almost known to everyone. Yes, it is the tag line of Amul which spurred the White Revolution in India and, in turn, made India the largest producer of milk and milk products in the world.

Amul is also famous for the Amul iconic girl; it’s a hand-drawn cartoon of a young, chubby Indian girl, dressed in a polka dotted frock with blue hair and half a pony tied up.And the most interesting thing is, she has just fifty. For this moppet, no subject is a taboo. From the last fifty years, she has been pointing out all social, political and economic affairs using wit and humor, thereby planting its roots in the public imagination .

This is also a White Revolution. The loveable Amul girl in her red polka-dotted frock has been holding these satirical hoardings in about 90 locations across India to mirror current events. She has been asserting her
presence and awareness through hoardings and news paper advertisings. There havebeen over 4,000 Amul Butter ads created by DaCunha Communications since 1966, and on celebrating her 50th birthday, they have created an Amul moppet image comprising 1,432 of those ads; showcasing four-and-ahalfdecades of record breaking advertising one 50 megapixel mosaic (9426 x 5303 pixels).
