Mr. H.A.Anil Kumar, a renowned art critic, art historian and contemporary curator
has been awarded from Delhi Art School with the prestigious B.C.Sanyal Award for
the year 2013, as the ‘Dedicated Teacher’. The details of the award are as below:
* Anil Kumar is the first art critic/Art Educationist to have received the award in
the Southern part of India, since its inception.

* He is the first art teacher to have received this award from Karnataka state.
* He is awarded alongside the internationally renowned artist Subodh Gupta.
* The Award is given in the name of a pioneer of Modern Indian Artist, B.C.Sanyal.
H.A.Anil Kumar has been teaching and writing about Art History since 1992 (two
decades). He has played a major role in setting up the current existing syllabus for
Art Schools throughout Karnataka, through T.P.Issar Committee. He is a recipient
of Unesco-Aschberg fellowship (2004, Finland), Charles Wallace Trust of India
scholarship (to study art at Royal College of Art in London, 2004-2005) and Pro-
Helvetia Critic-in-Residency fellowship (Switzerland, 2012).
Currently he teaches in the Department of Art History in College of Fine Arts,
Karnataka Chitrakala Parisath. He is the author of ‘Noduva Bage’ (2012), a Kannada
translation of John Berger’s “Ways of Seeing”, bilingual (English & Kannada)
monographs on ‘Nicholas & Svetoslav Roerich’ (1994), ‘Shankaragowda Bettadoor’
(first artists from Karnataka to study at Santiniketan in 1950s), ‘K.T.Shiva Prasad’
