An Inner Retrospective: Laxma Goud

To celebrate 20 years of Gallery Sumukha Bangalore, an artist who has had a long association with the space was given a solo exhibition- Laxma Goud, ‘An Inner Retrospective’ brought together drawings, etchings, paintings and sculptural works selected from his extensive art practice. Laxma Goud’s career spanning more than five decades has been illustrious, and in becoming a teacher he has passed on his enthusiasm and skill to several generations of artists, both as faculty at College of Fine Arts at JNTU, and as Dean, Sarojini Naidu School of Arts, Performing Arts and Communication, University of Hyderabad (which he helped establish). Goud was born in Nizampur, Andhra Pradesh in 1940. After a diploma in drawing and painting from the Government College of Art and Architecture, Hyderabad in 1963 he studied mural painting and printmaking at M.S.
