Of Truth, Peace & Love

Neelam Malhotra

Eva’s sensibility of composition, language of colors and forms all come together, without resistance and in total balance with matter and energy to create abstraction that elevates to spirituality and catalyzes paths to inner peace and harmony and the ultimate realization of being part of one collective universal consciousness.

As one walks into this tranquil space, the feeling is of pure euphoria. Gallerie Alternatives has on display mixed media paintings on canvas by Eva María, PhD in Fine Art from the University of Barcelona. A subtle flower fragrance welcomes the senses, setting the disposition for these yogic creations. It is like entering a space of veneration devoid of gravity with no forces disturbing the mind or body, the energy is liberating and positive. The works neatly arranged on bare white walls. The colours & strokes are confident, flowing freely and synchronised with inner awareness, reminiscent of being one with the universe. The state of contradiction between the heart and mind has been overcome and harmony is attained. Her works are her process of attaining spirituality, of letting go, of surrendering herself to life, an extraordinary progression towards stark honesty. The process of spiritual development through painting and Raj Yoga that the artist has been concentrating on reverberate in her visual language. She works aware and spontaneous, letting her being pour out into her work unrestrained. What does the world need today: peace? The sufferings and differences are manifold, the aspirations selfish; in our media run lives knowledge and information are abundant , ignorance inexcusable, the barbarism hiding behind a dysfunctional cloak of perceived modernity, unabashed shameless and unrepentant.

Through the process of her work, Eva enters a state of realisation which is a condition any serious observer can hope to achieve, the deeper one enters into the gratifying compositions the closer one finds the self to being one with the collective conscience, the realisation that everything, all matter, all energy has but a common source and projections of one whole. What resulted is work that is peace invoking; the artist’s spirituality, her state of meditation while she works on her canvas manifestated within her visual imagery. The works in myriad hues and shades of aqua in the main hall create illusion of a surreal ocean, the viewer a joyous water creature surrounded by waves that unravel their colourful mysteries all around, offering visuals that transcend present realities and elevate the viewer to a higher level. Further ahead we see works in more vivid floral colours. None of the works are too large and yet, within a small frame seem to have captured vast spaces. The artist’s mastery over her brush and colour creates the chimera of infinity. An aura is created, calming and inspiring. The feeling an onlooker gets is reminiscent of a whirl of breezy freshness on a hot humid uncomfortable day.
