HAND MADE MEMORIES – BIRENDRA PANI
My present series of Conceptual Photographs are related to my experience of human life and material culture in contemporary time.
Th ese were generated during my travel in diff erent spaces in India and abroad. I had started using the visual imagery of ‘capsule’ in the
medium of printmaking and painting during my student days in Baroda in 1997 so as to create my individual visual vocabulary and a new
language of visual expression. Later I was inspired by the work of Damien Hirst, (UK) and Dongwook Lee, (Korea) who had created a
diff erent language by an innovative approach of using the element. My present body of photographs is inspired from everyday life and present
new mediatic global culture. Capsule, a little but powerful object, although an indispensable part of our life, is double-edged in nature.
