“It’s Not Me” is a fusion of offbeat poetry and prose. It is a light-hearted satire on arranged marriage, childbirth, motherhood, tiring relationships, and a search for the elusive truth. It is a myriad of thoughts and life experiences from the real to the seemingly unreal. Ensuring a wish granted to her by a sage who happens to have passed away eons ago, the narrator begins to have extraordinary experiences which she expresses through a gamut of thoughts on a wide array of subjects. These include unusual experiences like past life memories that spring to the surface through forays into meditation. The book also touches upon more serious subjects like faith, religion, and terrorism from the perspective of a terrorist. It is essentially a journey in search of oneself.

On her new book release, Sumita Rekhi commented, “Given my exposure to the world of art, and experiences, this book is rather a personal and individual account of how a woman fares in one of the most important relationships in her life and how it alters her journey of self-discovery. I hope the everywoman of today will relate to this, with this journey and the path to reconnecting with her, emerging from her vulnerabilities and imperfections, and the efforts she makes, are perhaps, enough”.

On the writing, she adds, “It’s almost as if it was a calling, as a divine outpouring and as an artist, I felt inspired to put all these experiences into words, which constitute any woman’s journey, a book which I never envisaged to write myself, but I am delighted to see it come to life and share it with the world.”
