Palette Art Gallery’s summer show ‘Everything is Black & White’opened to the public on the 4th of May 2018, with the main theme being that all works were representations of the monochromatic

“We wanted everything to be black and white, because we feel that in the year 2018 we want everything to be clear in terms of what we’re doing. So that’s why we
chose to show works only in black and white because it’s pure, and the things that can be represented in black and white can’t always be represented in colour.
We had just renovated the gallery with white and grey as the main colour scheme, so we thought why not start things off with a black and white theme?
There are artists from different spheres involved in
the show, we have new artists and established ones, as well as selected works from our existing collection.There are around 20 artists who we are showcasing
today and it feels like a celebration. We’ve had a great response to the show; many people thought it was so fresh and unusual, even though it’s a fairly
common theme. It’s pure and simple, and as there is so much chaos going on in the world we wanted to bring things back to basics with this show.” – Rahul Khanna, curator.

“My works are primarily in black and white, I play with stripes, and try to keep the visuals exciting and then weave a narrative behind it. I enjoy the ploy of drawing in viewers with the visuals and then reveal the narratives without being so upfront about it. It becomes an interesting play on visuals and layers. It’s all inspired by personal life and relevant sociopolitical happenings, whatever motivates me really, it could be a story, television show, or just something which I observe in life. Conceptually it’s flexible and fluid, it could be whimsical, childlike, or even sexual…I keep the technique fluid too.” – Manil Gupta, visual artist based in Delhi.

Manil is visiting this particular body of work after a gap of 8 years, being pushed by the black and
white concept to re-explore this style from a fresh perspective. “I think in monochrome, so I was happy to be part of a show where the entire concept was
