This anthology of criticisms has taken a year to materialize and we are looking at a wide variety of art events and exhibitions the world over.Talwar Gallery’s A.Balasubramanium’s solo exhibition at the Gallery in Delhi had the ability to refl ect and reveal him as an artist of rare intensity and credibility.

The ebulient but brilliant Hema Upadhyay’s whose last show mesmerized her viewers and set her apart as one who loved the metropolis in which she lived.We pay homage to her contributions in a humble way.

The abstract master Sayed Haider Raza who will soon celebrate his 94th birthday,we were extremely fortunate to host his show Five Quartets curated by Uma Nair.In this edition we celebrate his years with and beyond the Bindu.I thank Sumit Roy artist and photographer for his images.

Five international shows feature in this issue-Vang Gogh’s Irises and Roses at the Metropolitan Museum in New York and Deccan Sultans also at the Metropolitan.Th e third is the multifarious genius Pablo Picasso and his historic sculpture show at MOMA in new York.Th ese shows give us a glimpse into the world of the Masters,it is they who still hold the world in its beams of creativity and passion and ardour.Th en there is the famous italian sculptor Fausto Melotti and Subodh Gupta in New York. Sculptures for public art are important, we have a profi le on Sashidharan from Faculty of Arts, MSU, Baroda.

Back on Indian soil we will soon be seeing Jamini Roy from the Ravi and Uma Jain Estate,curated by Uma Nair.Th e British Council”s multimedia show that looked at Medicines entitled Jeevanchakra curated by Latika Gupta in Kolkatta at Akar Prakar, we also feature another show of Somnath Hore’s prints drawings and sculptures at Akar Prakar in Delhi.Th en there is a short review of Mithu Sen at the Kochi Biennale last year.

The Moving Hand is an evocative debut by the erudite Aiyana Gunjan held in Pondicherry.We end with a suite of Paris photographs taken by young photographer Rupin Nair Th omas who will show at the Lalit Kala Akademi in Delhi.We also have french sculptor Christine Margotin’s sculptures seen at LKA Delhi.
