REVIEW OF THE S.SHAM SUNDER’S PAINTING AND DRAWING SHOW “BORDERS AND
BOUNDARIES” AT SUMUKHA GALLERY, BANGALORE, TILL END OF OCTOBER 2012
Horizon as a visible Circle
Shamsunder’s set of paintings and
drawings, titled as “Borders and Boundaries”,
together form a vision that is pleasant, but
(hence) served unavailable to today’s sight.
Th ey are painted in acrylic and pastel media
which facilitates a certain tactile-sauvé feel,
along with almost life size images of outdoor
spaces so that the viewer stands close and next
to it, but are intentionally abandoned out of its
sacred premise.
Th e pictures contain outdoor views of
a certain world order from which we are
currently exiled. Or, is it possible that the
source of this invisible sights of pleasantry has
already become Diasporic to human presence
and sense of belongingness?
