All to do with the loss of humanity

Unfortunate that it all happened because
of the government’s pride and prejudice
but that is not the issue which is to be
discussed, its now the 52 nd year where
eleven martyrs sacrificed their lives for
the cause of their mother language. Each
year in Silchar on the 19th of May the
town pays homage to the eleven martyrs.
Many events were happening on that
day and almost every person be it old
or young joined hands and organized
cultural programmes, processions etc.
to pay tribute to the eleven martyrs. But
the most unique experience of that day
was the different public artworks done
on the streets by a large number of art
organizations as well as individuals. The
public art was indeed unique because
it created an identity of the indigenous
place, and was able to stimulate the
progression of all parts of the society.
Silchar, being a part of Assam is dominated
by the Bengali community and therefore a
glimpse of the unique flavour of art and
culture can be distinguished in this part
of the region and this was evident on the
