Pristine World of Jai Zharotia
Ranjan K. Ghosh
As one of the leading present day Indian artists, Jai Zharotia has over the years evolved a unique style of his own which remains firmly rooted to the Indian ethos as far as their thematic denouement goes. Undoubtedly, the artist has made
a niche for himself in the contemporary art world. His works are a direct reflection of a sensitive and humanistic creative mind’s engagement with the world around. As he embarks on his creative journey often the dichotomy between the subject and the object seems to disappear. The brute object of experience melts itself into the experiencing subject, as it were. The inner being of the object loses itself into pure subjectivity of the artist’s self that is in search of its own identity. For the artist the other sentient beings are not merely ‘the others’ cut off as they are from his experiencing self, rather they are engulfed by his over reach into them. What remains Jai Zharotia is the ontological substitute of his own self.
