I have always been drawn to the work of Somnath Da and have been inspired by the deep empathy
he had for the downtrodden. This empathy has guided me over the years, as I have moved from
drawing and painting beggars in the street, workers, ordinary people’s lives, the violence that
pervades our society, and finally the shadow of death. I have chosen a few works here to trace this
journey.
It is an experimental plywood plate spontaneously worked with delicate lines, subtle texture by exploiting natural grains and white embossed form suggest love and anxiety with a lyrical soft mood.
