THE MAKER OF LARGEST WOOD CUT PRINTS IN THE WORLD,
INDIAN ARTIST SANJAY KUMAR
PAVES HIS WAY INTO NGMA & GUINESS WORLD RECORDS
His wood-cut prints were exhibited along with that of Raza and Souza in French
Biennale in the 7th Biennale Internationale de la Gravure d’Ile de France, 2009.
Recipient of nearly 38 awards including the prestigious National Academy Award
2006 , fetching the accolade for the State of Haryana aft er a gap of 36years. Sanjay
Kumar’s largest wood-cut print measuring 60inches x 390inches, the largest in
world, has given him the honor of being considered for inclusion in Guinness
World Records. Humbly, he explains that he could not aff ord the expenditure
expectation for hosting the inspection team of Guinness. Born in 1972, he achieved
the degree of MFA from Jamia Milia, New Delhi and was taught and inspired
by Shankhu Chaudhry,Himmat Shah,S.R.Bhushan,G.R.Santosh and Vivan
Sundaram. Being always aware of strengthening his hold on drawing, he trained
himself with unending zeal in animal and human anatomy. He has done a series
on human hands and feet apart from a detailed study of monkeys. His installation
at Jamia Milia, New Delhi, 1998,of placing the enlarged images of randomly taken
photographs of feet of people on the streets, received much appreciation .
