Craft vs Art : vCraft is a tradition passed on, repeated, done over and over again. In craft there is the collective unconscious made conscious with every stroke. The form, the subject, the lines, the skill, the discipline is sacrosanct
to maintain the authenticity n tradition. In craft lies preservation of the old, the continuation of the sutra. There is little room for original thought and creativity. It’s more skill based – the finesse, the knowledge, the technique. The lines and forms are strict, allowing little play of individuality n originality.,

In my mind, art is all about the individual. The individual connecting to the universal. The microcosm of the individual connecting to the macrocosm of the universe. Art is about the original thought and form expressed by the artist. The artist cannot repeat herself in the organic flow of strokes. It’s about the artist perception and story expressed. The rest is skills, techniques and expertise. Originality and evocativeness of expression is key.
