Nothing speaks more loudly and persuasively than an art work. After the success of the first part of the special Issue on Northeast India and the authentic scholarly contributions by different authors, was indeed an eye opener about the visual art and culture of the Northeast.
The second part of the special Issue further presents extensive information on the art of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. The scholarly contributions made by Upal Deb on printmaker Ajit Seal, Amrita Gupta Singh’s debate on the art practices of the borderland, the analysis on the Stonehenge of Meghalaya by Dhiraj Singh and the untold story of the architecture of Northeast India by Apurva Sinha.
The issue also focuses on some great masters from North India ; the torchbearer of the Region , such as Birendra Lal Bhowmik, Asudev, Swapan Paul, Pranabendu Bikash Dhar and some of the young budding artists from Northeast India who have been well accepted in the mainstream art scenario.
Working as a Guest Editor for the special issues on the Northeast was a great experience for me. I am honored as well as excited to share the beautiful visual culture of North East India through Art & Deal Magazine. I am thankful to Siddhartha Tagore, Editor, for providing me a platform to showcase the Visual Art of North East India to the rest of the world. Lastly, but not the least I would like to thank Prashanta Seal, Creative & Production Head, Art & Deal who so patiently helped me throughout. Please enjoy the issue and I am sure this Second Part of the Special issues on North East India would be an interesting read.
