November is an ideal month in the city (of Delhi) the weather is sympathetic and the lights seem to shine brighter in the evenings. The demonetisation by the Prime Minister earlier this month left none unaffected. We hope it brings better stability and growth to our economy and helps build a greater nation.

A lot goes on around this month in the art world. The oncoming winter ushers in several interesting exhibitions. Looking at the oeuvre of artist Puneet Kaushik one thing maybe said with confidence, his work and his thought process is not commonplace. The installations Puneet has been creating have a global sensibility even though the materials are largely indigenous. We peer into his art with Myna Mukherjee as he puts together his solo exhibit Barren Red.

Rajesh Punj engages in an interview with Raqib Shaw, it is fascinating to discover how the artist creates a whole world through his paintings (merging elements of East and West and his imagination with such elegance) and also around himself transforming his studio into a fantastical baroque styled garden.

Uma Nair takes us on a mystical expedition through the retrospection of veteran A Ramachandran curated by R Siva Kumar at NGMA Bangalore. The journey leaves us mesmerised with the master’s brilliance and imagination.

Tribal Art is slowly gaining its essential place in mainstream art. The once dying and disappearing genre has managed to revive itself stupendously thanks to inflating local and international patronage. Subhra Mazumdar asserts, as she appraises the recent exhibition of international tribal art at the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi.
