Arvind Kejriwal took oath as the CM of Delhi for a second time, post a historical victory in the assembly elections. A remarkable instance of democracy being exercised truly as it was meant to be. A change is in the air, positive, daring and long overdue. We strive to be part of this change: imperative & applaudable, to play our part in this evolution and hope it progresses in a positive direction. The year started on a celebrative note with another edition of the IAF. Visitors itnessed a noteworthy display of art works by masters of Indian art, Pre-Independence, Old Bengal and Modern. There were several interesting contemporary works on show and the endeavour to put forth good quality work was manifest. Artist Sidharth showed his epic work Gau-Mukh done in silver leaf and natural pigments, the only work in the solo exhibition Ganga, curator Uma Nair explores the spiritual journey of the artist and how the work came about. Johny ML accolades the display of ceremic work by sculptor Rahul Kumar shown by Gallerie Alternatives. Santanu Ganguly realises the genius of Paresh Maity, his various learning experiences and encounters as well as his recent inclination towards photography albeit no less passionate than his brush work. Johny ML looks closely at the works of Shridhar Iyer in an attempt to realise not just what is visible/obvious but also decipher that which is unseen. Georgina Maddox emphasises Balbir Krishan’s perseverance and determination as an artist and a human in the face of all altercation. Rohini Iyengar elaborates on the calescence of the surreal forms and compositions of Dakoji Devraj. Rajendra is in conversation with Kalpana Shah, Director of Tao Art Gallery as she relates her experiences managing her gallery, curating various shows and how it provided her with opportunities to interact with some of the greatest artists of Modern Indian Art. Sumati Gangopadhyay probes sculptor Ashish Kumar Das about the sources of various influences that each play a part in the realisation of his mysterious creations, delicate and intricate in treatment yet colossal in presence.
