Dhruva Mistry’s Mystic Magic

Dhruva was impressed by the cultural openness and individual freedom encouraged at R.C.A. He wrote, “I enjoyed seeing places, thevariety of collections, display, and exhibitions offering plurality of ideas of art, culture, people and religion. I enjoyed looking into the visual premises and conceptual precepts of artists to understand the modernity of the day.
Dhruva Mistry was born on January 1st 1950, at Kanjari, Nadiad District in central Gujarat. He is the youngest of four children of Pramodray Mistry, Superintendent of Vocational training school and Kantaben. He had a happy childhood in this lush green, progressive region of Charotar. He was surrounded by hardworking and enterprising people, Dhruva describes this phase, when he says, “Growing up in the rural yet a development oriented environment had a constructive and enterprising effect on my attitude.”
