Eye Catching Juxtapostions: Recent Works Of Sailesh B.O

Dr. Ashrafi S. Bhagat

The large viewing space within the Forum Art Gallery in Chennai was resonating with brilliant colours, intricate designs and realistic hybrid animal forms in combination with human, birds and fish. Acting as a cherry on the cake were the elastic yogic postures enacted by humans as well as the hybrid forms. “Juxtaposing… As the mind sees” by the Chennai based artist Sailesh B.O showcases his recent suite of works which also includes wood sculptures carved from pinewood. Sailesh’s sensibility is pitched within his immediate environment – social, cultural, nature and extends to include philosophy and visual arts tradition.

Intellectually restless, conceptually driven, technically seeking to explore different media, he is in a constant search for a medium that will appropriately translate his ideas efficiently. An empiricist at heart, his artistic trajectory voices, internalized within from his environment, personal or his philosophical readings of Indian cultural tradition. His conceptual mental agility has been once again foregrounded, as every show of his work has defined a different trajectory as they are exploratory in nature and hence distinct.
