Art Bahrain, Across Borders

Art & Deal correspondent

There could not have been a more opulent setting for ‘Art Bahrain, Across Borders’ than Bikaner House in central Delhi. The atmosphere on the opening night was certainly electric; a mixing pot of Bahraini and Indian energy. ‘Art Bahrain, Across Borders’ was the premier event of this contemporary art fair and curated art program under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of the King of Bahrain, which will also travel to Mumbai.

The collection included over 40 artworks from 18 Bahraini artists under the ‘Art Bahrain Across Borders’ umbrella with its opening at Bikaner House, New Delhi on the 9th of October. The exhibition will run until the 11th of October, after which it will travel to Mumbai and run from the 30th November to the 2nd of December 2017. The theme of this exhibition is ‘Unsaid’ and is curated by Indian artist and writer Alka Raghuvanshi who’s involvement and interest in Bahrain began some time ago. It was the warm nature of the Bahraini people which drew her to discover the art from the region which has a rich culture and tradition. There is a wealth of female artists hailing from Bahrain, who in forthright style represent various issues facing women in the modern age, many of which are part of this collective of artists.
